After all three of us had a bad nights sleep we were up early in preparation for Adams gastrostomy operation. All seemed on track until the anesthetist came to ask some questions and do a few routine tests on Adam. The little guy does tend to always sound quite chesty but he has been worse since his chest infection and the anesthetist was a little concerned about this, unfortunately Adams temperature was on the high side and his oxygen saturations weren’t great so Mr. Anesthetist went to talk it over with his team.
After some deliberation they thought it best to not go ahead with the operation as the risks to Adam would be to great, obviously we totally understood this and wouldn’t want Adam to go through with it unless everybody involved were 100% confident. They are going to reschedule it in a few weeks when hopefully Adam will be OK.
We are a little disappointed as although we were nervous we had prepared ourselves for him going in and can’t help thinking that if all had gone to plan it would be over now and it would be out of the way.
