I’ve done my usual trick and not updated the blog for a while! I will post some new pics soon.
We’ve not really had a long settled period with Adam over the past 5 months – he just seems unhappy and uncomfortable most of the time, this is mainly due to his persistent reflux. We therefore have made the decision for him to have an operation which will hopefully stop his reflux. Its called a Fundoplication and basically involves the upper part of the stomach being wrapped around the oesophagus and stitched in place. Whenever the stomach contracts it closes off the oesophagus instead of squeezing stomach acids into it. Sounds pretty horrendous but it should make him more comfortable and this will hopefully aid his development and growth. Adam was weighed on Friday 13th March and he still only weighs 16lb 5oz. The date for the op is Wednesday 1st April at Sheffield Childrens Hospital. Kerry and I are dreading it but we now just want it done as its heartbreaking seeing him in such pain. If all goes well he should be in hospital for a minimum of 3 days.
Adam is unwell again at the moment. He has another chest infection so we ended up in hospital last Friday, our 3rd visit in 2009!! Fortunately we didn’t stay in too long this time we we’re discharged under the understanding we administer a 10 day course of antibiotics at home. He’s still very unhappy, we had a nightmare with him last night and he pretty much screamed non-stop all night. We tried everything we have learnt from the hospital/therapists to soothe him but to no avail. Fingers crossed the antibiotics should start to work soon and his chest will clear up.
On a lighter note Adam had the privilage of meeting Princess Anne when she came to Chesterfield to officially open the new £5m child development centre (The Den) at the Royal Hospital. Kerry and I went along too it was a lovely day with the best free buffet lunch we’ve been to-fit for a Princess!! Adam also made his TV debut appearing on the local ITV Calander news that evening looking extremely handsome and sporting his best smile for the camara.
I have added a mini-blog on the right which links to my twitter feeds, I can update this from my phone so I will try and add any news and updates on Adam as they happen. God i’m a techno geek!!
