Over the past 4 months Adam has had his ups and downs. Once home his reflux gradually got worse to the point of him having a stomach bleed caused by stomach acid and he was admitted back into hospital. The three of us spent a hard week on Nightingale Ward during which time he was given medications to totally nutralise his stomach acid. The poor guy has really had a hard time during his first few months, he has low muscle tone in his upper body and high muscle tone in his legs. This means his head control isn’t where it should be for his age and is a little on the floppy side whilst his legs are very stiff which means he doesn’t tend to move them much. He has regular physio for this and has just started a 6 week course of hydrotherapy which will hopefully help him.Sadly we have also been told he has ‘development delay’, what this means for the future we’re not sure but he is not doing the things he should at this stage. He has had an eye test as we are not sure if he is focusing fully. The test showed that his eyes are perfectly formed but they couldn’t ascertain whether or not his brain was interpreting the signals correctly. He’s due for a second test at the end of this month.
